It is true that you need a laptop & speaker to perform as a DJ. In a better way, You don’t need expensive gear to perform as a professional DJ. In equipment failure, I have seen our student’s great performance on a simple tablet.

Let’s think from customer’s point of view,

If you hire a DJ for your wedding, what are your expectations from DJ? If you are booking a DJ for your dance night then 90% of your experience is totally in control of the DJ.

Is this important? Your entry, dance performance, background music, dance party etc.?

So when you give control of your life’s most important memories to someone. Is it ok if he has one laptop and a random song collection?

That’s why education in DJing is important. DJ with proper knowledge & experience can create memories of a lifetime!

You don’t need to have a Phd degree in music but here is minimum requirements to start learning process.

Basic personal requirements to learn DJing

Passion for music

Passion about music does not mean you are crazy follower of music. You need to have a love for music.

Most of the time we have a habit of following only one type of music in our life.

But as a DJ, You will listen to music from different genres, moods and locations. So if you’re not a music lover, it will be torcher for you to work as a DJ 🙂

Advance music theory will give you extra power to make your performance 10X more memorable.

You are performing for someone else, So if you feel that sharing happiness is a good habit, then you are taking right steps to become DJ.

Teacher is a teacher because he is passionate about sharing knowledge

Cook is a cook because he is passionate about providing great food

So you are DJ because _______

Complete the line and think what change you want in the world? How can you give something back to nature?

As a DJ, It’s great feeling that someone will pay you to be in party 🙂

But in otherside, your customers are also expecting something in return.

Give as much as you can! 

Technical requirements to learn DJing

Basic understanding of computers

DJ used to perform on tape, EP, pendrive, CD, DVD etc.

Now we can directly play from SoundCloud or Beatport via internet in live party. Isn’t it cool? 

Let’s see where this technology will take us..

So we have to learn to adopt technology.It’s not useful, if I am learning DJing on CD/ DVD player.

And on opposite, It’s extremely useful if you are learning DJing for next generation of technology!
