The debate is still on, people are still fighting and taking stand about real DJing & professional DJing. We have already heard enough voice about virtual DJ & other software. Even if we agree or not, Virtual DJ is one of the most popular & widely used by almost DJs all over the world. There are few people who are struggling to split audio for cue & master.
We are writing this article to help people who can’t afford a DJing equipments and they still want to perform on their laptop
Below are a few options to split audio easily in virtual DJ :
Option 1 : Using external sound card
Steps to set up external sound card :
- Buy an external USB sound card from a local computer store or online (example)
- Connect your USB sound card and install driver
- Open virtual DJ & go to setting
- Goto Audio – Select output > Speaker + Headphone
- Card > Two soundcard
- In master select > external sound card (as per your model)
- In headphone section > internal sound card (your computer)
Theory : Route cue signal from internal sound card and master output from external sound card
Now you can connect your headphone into internal soundcard & your master via your external sound card
Option 2 : Using stereo to mono splitter
Audio Split Merge Adapter Mini Connector Jack
- Get a stereo splitter cable from local shops or online
- Open virtual DJ and go to setting
- Goto Audio – select output > Speaker + Headphone
- Card > Split audio
- Select master & cue as left right splitter
Theory : Route left signal for headphone output and right signal for master output using same same sound card
Option 3 : Using traktor or other sound card (little bit expensive)
- You can buy a soundcard like NI audio 2 DJ MK2 to split the audio and cue
Theory : Already designed for DJ
But it’s better to get a good midi controller or a DJ player for better quality & sustainability
