How to split master output & cue using internal or external sound card of laptop in virtual DJ

The debate is still on, people are still fighting and taking stand about real DJing & professional DJing. We have already heard enough voice about virtual DJ & other software. Even if we agree or not, Virtual DJ is one of the most popular & widely used by almost DJs all over the world. There are few people who are struggling to split audio for cue & master.

We are writing this article to help people who can’t afford a DJing equipments and they still want to perform on their laptop

Below are a few options to split audio easily in virtual DJ :

Option 1 : Using external sound card

Steps to set up external sound card :

  1. Buy an external USB sound card from a local computer store or online (example)
  2. Connect your USB sound card and install driver
  3. Open virtual DJ & go to setting
  4. Goto Audio – Select output > Speaker + Headphone
  5. Card > Two soundcard
  6. In master select > external sound card (as per your model)
  7. In headphone section > internal sound card (your computer)

Theory : Route cue signal from internal sound card and master output from external sound card

Now you can connect your headphone into internal soundcard & your master via your external sound card

Option 2 : Using stereo to mono splitter

  3. Goto Audio – select output > Speaker + Headphone

  5. Select master & cue as left right splitter

Theory : Route left signal for headphone output and right signal for master output using same same sound card

Option 3 : Using traktor or other sound card (little bit expensive)

Theory : Already designed for DJ

But it’s better to get a good midi controller or a DJ player for better quality & sustainability
